Vault Settings
Configure and customize your vault
Manage vault settings including storage, notifications, access control, and advanced features.
Access Vault Settings
- Log in to app.torvussecurity.com
- Navigate to Vaults
- Select your vault
- Click "Settings" tab
General Settings
Vault Information
Vault Name:
- Update vault name anytime
- Must be unique across your vaults
- Visible to recipients when vault is released
Description:
- Brief description of vault contents
- Helps recipients understand vault purpose
- Visible to vault members and recipients
Tags:
- Organize vaults with tags
- Multiple tags supported
- Use for filtering and searching
Update Example:
Name: Personal Documents 2025
Description: Updated personal vault with latest documents
Tags: personal, family, important
Storage Settings
Storage Usage:
- View current storage used
- Monitor storage limit
- See storage breakdown by file type
Storage Limits by Plan:

Storage Alerts:
- ✅ Notify at 80% capacity
- ✅ Notify at 90% capacity
- ✅ Notify at 100% capacity (uploads blocked)
Manage Storage:
- Review large files: Settings → Storage → Large Files
- Delete unnecessary documents
- Compress files before upload
- Upgrade plan for more storage
Notification Settings
Email Notifications
Check-in Reminders:
- ✅ Enable email reminders (recommended)
- Configure reminder timing (3 days before, 1 day before, day of)
- Set reminder frequency
Policy Notifications:
- ✅ Policy created/updated
- ✅ Policy triggered
- ✅ Grace period started
- ✅ Vault released to recipients
Document Notifications:
- ✅ Document uploaded by vault member
- ✅ Document deleted
- ✅ Storage limit approaching
Recipient Notifications:
- ✅ Recipient added
- ✅ Recipient removed
- ✅ Recipient verified identity
SMS Notifications
Requirements:
- Add phone number to profile
- Verify phone number
- Professional/Enterprise plan
Available SMS Notifications:
- Check-in reminders
- Grace period alerts (urgent)
- Emergency release confirmations
Configuration:
- Navigate to Settings → SMS
- Add phone number
- Verify with code
- Enable SMS notifications
Push Notifications
Requirements:
- Torvus mobile app installed
- Notifications enabled in app settings
Available Push Notifications:
- Check-in reminders
- Document uploads
- Policy triggers
- Grace period alerts
Configuration:
- Install mobile app
- Enable notifications in app
- Notifications automatically configured
Access Control
Vault Members
Add Vault Members: Collaborate with others in real-time.
- Navigate to Settings → Members
- Click "Add Member"
- Enter email address
- Select permission level:
- Viewer: Read-only access
- Operator: View and upload
- Admin: Full access (except vault deletion)
Member List:
- View all vault members
- See permission levels
- View last active date
- Remove members

Sharing Settings
Vault Visibility:
- Private (default): Only owner, members, and recipients
- Shared: Visible to invited users
- Organization (Enterprise): Visible to all organization members
Access Links (Professional/Enterprise):
- Generate temporary access links
- Set expiration (1 hour to 30 days)
- Limit download count
- Revoke anytime
Advanced Settings
Version Control (Professional)
Enable Document Versioning:
- Keep multiple versions of same document
- Restore previous versions
- View version history
Configuration:
- Navigate to Settings → Advanced → Versioning
- Enable versioning
- Set version limit (5, 10, unlimited)
- Choose version retention (30 days, 90 days, forever)
Version Limits:
- Professional: 10 versions per document
- Enterprise: Unlimited versions
Folder Organization (Professional)
Enable Folder Structure:
- Organize documents in folders
- Create nested folders (up to 5 levels)
- Move documents between folders

Enable Detailed Audit Logs:
- Track all vault activity
- Export logs as CSV

Logged Activities:

Access Logs:
- Navigate to Settings → Audit Logs
- Filter by date, user, action
- Export logs (CSV, JSON)
Danger Zone
Transfer Ownership
Transfer vault to another user:
Warning: You will lose owner privileges.
Process:
- Navigate to Settings → Danger Zone → Transfer Ownership
- Enter new owner's email
- New owner receives invitation
- New owner accepts transfer
- Ownership transferred
Use Cases:
- Transitioning role to colleague
- Estate planning (while alive)
- Organization changes
Archive Vault
Archive inactive vault:
- Vault becomes read-only
- Check-ins paused
- Policies paused
- Storage still counts toward limit
Benefits:
- Preserve vault without active maintenance
- Reduce clutter in vault list
- Can be unarchived anytime
Process:
- Navigate to Settings → Danger Zone → Archive Vault
- Confirm archive
- Vault moved to "Archived" section
Delete Vault
Permanently delete vault and all contents:
Warning: This action is irreversible. All documents, recipients, policies, and settings will be permanently deleted.
Requirements:
- Must be vault owner
- 2FA verification required
- Confirmation code sent to email
Process:
- Navigate to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Vault
- Type vault name to confirm
- Complete 2FA verification
- Enter confirmation code from email
- Click "Permanently Delete Vault"
What Gets Deleted:
- All documents (cannot be recovered)
- All recipients (removed from vault)
- All policies (deactivated)
- All vault members (access revoked)
- All audit logs (deleted)
- Vault metadata
What Happens to Recipients:
- Recipients lose access (if vault was already released)
- Recipients notified of vault deletion
Integration Settings (Enterprise)
API Access
Enable API Access:
- Navigate to Settings → Integrations → API
- Generate API key
- Configure permissions (Read, Write, Delete)
- Set IP whitelist (optional)
API Key Management:
- View API key usage
- Rotate API keys
- Revoke API keys
- Set expiration
Webhooks
Configure Webhooks: Receive real-time notifications of vault events.
Available Events:
- Document uploaded
- Document deleted
- Policy triggered
- Vault released
- Check-in completed
- Check-in missed
Setup:
- Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Webhooks
- Add webhook URL
- Select events to monitor
- Configure secret for signature verification
- Test webhook
SSO Integration (Enterprise)
Single Sign-On:
- SAML 2.0
- OAuth 2.0
- Active Directory
- Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace

Backup & Export
Export Vault Contents
Export all vault contents:
- Navigate to Settings → Backup & Export
- Click "Export Vault"
- Select export format:
- ZIP: All documents + metadata.json
- JSON: Metadata only
- CSV: Document list
Export Contents:
- All documents (original files)
- Metadata (names, tags, descriptions, timestamps)
- Recipient list
- Policy configurations
- Audit logs (Professional/Enterprise)
Download: Large exports may take several minutes to generate
Automated Backups (Enterprise)
Schedule automated exports:
- Daily, weekly, or monthly
- Sent to S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Azure Blob
- Encrypted exports
Configuration: Contact Enterprise support
Troubleshooting
Cannot Change Settings
Possible Causes:
- Insufficient permissions (not Admin or Owner)
- Vault archived
- Account suspended
Solutions:
- Check your role (Settings → Members)
- Unarchive vault if archived
- Contact support if account issue
Storage Limit Exceeded
Problem: Cannot upload more documents
Solutions:
- Delete unnecessary documents
- Compress files before upload
- Upgrade plan for more storage
- Move some documents to different vault
Notifications Not Received
Problem: Not receiving email/SMS notifications
Solutions:
- Check notification settings (Settings → Notifications)
- Verify email/phone number in profile
- Check spam folder
- Whitelist
