This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of Torvus Security's services. By using our Service, you agree to comply with this policy.
Purpose​
This AUP is designed to protect Torvus Security, our users, and the internet community from irresponsible or illegal activities.
Permitted Uses​
You may use Torvus Security for lawful purposes, including:
Personal Use:
- Storing personal documents (legal, medical, financial)
- Digital legacy and estate planning
- Emergency document access planning
- Password and credential recovery
Business Use:
- Business continuity planning
- Team document management
- Compliance documentation storage
- API automation and integration
Professional Use:
- Journalist source protection (Journalist Mode)
- Legal document management
- Medical records backup
- Cryptocurrency recovery planning
Prohibited Activities​
Illegal Content​
You may NOT upload, store, or distribute:
L Illegal content or content that violates laws L Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) L Content promoting terrorism or violence L Stolen intellectual property or trade secrets (obtained illegally) L Instructions for illegal activities L Counterfeit goods or fraudulent documents
Action: Immediate account termination and law enforcement notification.
Harmful Content​
You may NOT use the Service to:
L Distribute malware, viruses, or malicious code L Host phishing pages or scam content L Store ransomware decryption keys for malicious purposes L Facilitate hacking, cracking, or unauthorized access L Distribute spam or unsolicited commercial messages
Action: Account suspension pending investigation.
Abusive Behavior​
You may NOT:
L Harass, threaten, or intimidate others L Impersonate individuals or organizations L Violate others' privacy or rights L Engage in hate speech or discrimination L Stalk or dox individuals
Action: Account suspension or termination.
Service Abuse​
You may NOT:
L Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems L Perform security testing without written permission L Circumvent security controls or rate limits L Scrape, data mine, or harvest data L Reverse engineer the Service L Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization L Use the Service to compete with Torvus Security L Create multiple free accounts to evade limits
Action: Account termination and potential legal action.
Resource Abuse​
You may NOT:
L Use excessive storage or bandwidth L Upload files solely for file hosting/sharing (not vault purpose) L Use the Service as a CDN or file distribution network L Perform automated bulk operations without permission L Intentionally overload or degrade the Service
Action: Account throttling, suspension, or termination.
Specific Use Cases​
Acceptable: Journalist Protection​
Journalists may use Journalist Mode to protect sources and materials Dead man's switch for investigative journalism Secure storage of confidential interview materials
Acceptable: Cryptocurrency Recovery​
Storing cryptocurrency recovery seeds and keys Emergency access to crypto wallets for heirs Multi-signature wallet coordination information
Acceptable: Legal/Medical​
Legal documents for attorneys and clients Medical records for personal health management Estate planning and will documentation
Not Acceptable: Piracy​
L Storing pirated software, movies, music, books L Sharing copyrighted content without authorization L Distributing license keys or cracks
Not Acceptable: Illegal Activity Facilitation​
L Drug trafficking coordination L Money laundering documentation L Terrorist attack planning L Child exploitation material
Intellectual Property​
Respect Copyright​
- Only upload content you own or have rights to
- Do not store pirated content
- Respect Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)
DMCA Takedown Procedure​
If you believe content violates your copyright:
- Email dmca@torvussecurity.com with:
- Description of copyrighted work
- Location of infringing content (vault ID if known)
- Your contact information
- Statement of good faith belief
- Statement under penalty of perjury
- Physical or electronic signature
We will investigate and take appropriate action within 48 hours.
Privacy and Personal Information​
Permitted:​
Storing your own personal information Storing information of consenting individuals (family, business associates) Storing public information
Prohibited:​
L Storing personal information obtained illegally L Storing others' information without consent (except public information) L Using the Service to stalk or harass
Compliance with Laws​
You must comply with all applicable laws, including:
- Data Protection: GDPR, CCPA, local privacy laws
- Export Controls: U.S. export regulations
- Financial Regulations: Anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions
- Intellectual Property: Copyright, trademark laws
International Users: You are responsible for compliance with local laws in your jurisdiction.
Monitoring and Enforcement​
Our Rights​
We reserve the right to:
- Monitor use for compliance with this AUP
- Investigate suspected violations
- Access vault contents if legally required or suspicious activity detected
- Suspend or terminate accounts violating this AUP
- Report illegal activity to law enforcement
- Cooperate with legal investigations
We Do NOT:​
- Proactively read vault contents (unless flagged or legally required)
- Monitor private communications
- Sell user data
Detection Methods​
- Automated scanning for malware and CSAM (hash-based)
- User reports and complaints
- Anomaly detection (unusual usage patterns)
- Legal requests and court orders
Reporting Violations​
Report Abuse​
If you encounter content or behavior violating this AUP:
Email: abuse@torvussecurity.com
Include:
- Description of violation
- Location (vault ID if known, username)
- Screenshots or evidence (if available)
- Your contact information
Response Time: We investigate all reports within 48 hours.
Report Illegal Content​
For illegal content (CSAM, terrorism):
- Email: legal@torvussecurity.com
- Urgent: Call our security hotline at 1-800-XXX-XXXX
We will involve law enforcement immediately.
Consequences of Violations​
Warning​
- First-time minor violations may receive a warning
- Required to remove violating content within 24 hours
Suspension​
- Temporary account suspension (7-30 days)
- Access restricted pending investigation
- Content may be deleted
Termination​
- Permanent account closure
- All vaults and content deleted
- No refund for remaining subscription period
- Potential legal action
Legal Action​
- Report to law enforcement (illegal content)
- Civil lawsuit for damages
- Criminal prosecution (where applicable)
Appeals Process​
If your account is suspended or terminated:
- Review Notice: We will email you explaining the violation
- Submit Appeal: Email appeals@torvussecurity.com within 14 days
- Include:
- Explanation of circumstances
- Evidence disputing violation
- Corrective actions taken
- Review: We review appeals within 7 business days
- Decision: Final decision communicated via email
Note: Appeals are not available for:
- Illegal content violations
- Repeated violations
- Fraudulent activity
Updates to This Policy​
We may update this AUP from time to time. Changes will be effective upon posting to our website.
Material Changes: We will notify you via email 30 days before enforcement.
Continued Use: Using the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
